Conference Venues

Open pre-workshop seminars (May 9)

The open pre-workshop seminars on May 9 will take place at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Chalmers University of Technology, lecture hall Euler.

Main workshop seminars (May 10 to May 12)

The workshop will be held at Nya Varvet Conference Center in the Nya Varvet ("new shipyard") area. A map of the campus is available at this site (building 37 is the main one). More info on getting there is also available below.

Getting around

Gothenburg generally has a well working tram and bus system. The one-way fare (including switches) is 20 SEK. The trams usually leave at least every 10 minutes. You can pay at the driver of the bus/tram. For exakt scheduling, check out www.vasttrafik.se. There is an english version, available through the top left corner.

The three big taxi companies are listed below. Other companies are usually more costly:
  • Mini Taxi (cheapest, but hard to find) +46-(0)31-140140
  • Taxi Göteborg +46-(0)31-650000
  • Taxi Kurir +46-(0)31-272727

The Nya Varvet conference centre

A map of the local area around the conference centre is available here. The main building is the tau-shaped orange one on the top of the map to the right of the small harbour. The two tram-stops are marked with S signs.
Tram number 9 (light blue line, direction Kungsten) turns at tram-stop Kungsten (eastern-most on the map). The walk is then 15 minutes on Långedragsvägen and Nya Varvsallén. Tram number 11 (black line, direction Saltholmen) continues to the closer stop Nya Varvet (western-most). The walk is then 10 minutes on Nya Varvsallén.
By taxi, ask for "Nya Varvet".

Chalmers University of Technology

Trams 6, 7, 8, 10 and 13 as well as bus 16 and 58 stop at station Chalmers. Walking through the main entrance, take the stairs to the left and soon a overhead walking bridge covered in glass will be visible to your left. The actual department is the building to the right and the lacture hall Euler is on the uppermost floor of the building to the left.
By taxi, the adress is "Chalmers Tvärgata 3". You'll arrive to a glass facaded building, which is the department for mathematical sciences. For returners: please note that we moved to a new building some months ago.
A map is available here, with the tram stop marked with an S sign and the department building located on the north side of the street marked blue at the centre of the map.

The central station

Arriving at the central station, the tram and bus station is called Centralstationen, which is located on the south side of the building at Drottningtorget. See this map. There is also a coach-station (Nils Ericsson terminalen), which is on the opposite side of the station building, where the airport buses arrive. There are taxi stations on both the south and north side of the building.
Going to Chalmers: Take bus 58 (direction Skintebo) or tram 7 (direction Tynnered). The ride takes about 11 minutes. A taxi costs about 100-120 SEK and takes about 10 minutes.
Going to Nya Varvet: Take tram 9 or 11 (arriving instructions above). The ride takes about 25 minutes. A taxi takes about 15 minutes and probably costs about 120-150 SEK.

Landvetter Airport (GOT) or Gothenburg City Airport (GSE)

You can take the airport bus ("Flygbussarna") to Nils Ericsson terminalen (this takes approximately 30 minutes from both airports). The bus ticket costs 70 SEK from GOT and 50 SEK from GSE and you can bye the ticket on the bus. See www.flygbussarna.se for more information (there is an English version). The central station (Centralstationen) is situated next to Nils Ericsson terminalen. Please see instructions above on how to continue from there. Please note that there are aiport buses leaving for other cities than Gothenburg. A taxi from the airport costs 300-400 SEK. There are pre-determined fixed prices to different parts of the town which is cheaper than going by the meter. Ask for a fixed price.

Stena ferry terminal (arriving from Fredrikshavn)

The ferry terminal is located centrally, near Järntorget (eng. iron plaza). At this map the terminal is on the top (protruding into the water) and the järntorget tram and bus-station is the rightmost S-sign.
Going to Chalmers: Tram 6 (direction Kortedala via korsvägen). The ride takes about 10 minutes. A taxi probably costs about 100-120 SEK and takes about 10 minutes.
Going to Nya Varvet: Take tram 9 or 11 (arriving instructions above). The ride takes about 14 minutes. A taxi takes about 10 minutes and probably costs about 100-120 SEK.
