Individualising patient therapy.

Summary: Individual decision rules are better than global decision
rules and if we could make individual decisions as to which treatment a
patient should receive we would improve therapy. However, individual
reponse to treatment is not identifiable from conventional clinical
trials. In this talk I shall consider in very general and non-mathematical
terms what insights statistics might bring to the task of individualising
patient therapy.
