Quasiconformal maps and holomorphic motions
Abstract: I will prove Astala's theorem on the area distortion of quasiconformal maps. This theorem depends very much on the relation between quasiconformal maps and holomorphic motions. The proof I will give uses important simplifications, due to Eremenko and Fernandez, of Astala's original argument. I will also try to give all necessary background so that the exposition will be essentially self contained.

Proof of the Oka-Grauert Principle without induction over the base dimension
Zusammenfassung: This is a talk over a joint work with G. Henkin, where a new proof of Grauert's theorem on holomorphic bundles over Stein manifolds is given. In distinction to other proofs, this proof does not use induction over the real dimension of the base manifold. Instead induction with respect to the levels of a strictly plurisubharmonic exhausting function is used (Grauert's bump method). In this way also a certain generalization for bundles over pseudoconvex manifolds (which are not necessarily Stein) is obtained. The key to this proof is a study of the complex geometry of nondegenerate critical points of strictly plurisubharmonic functions.

Analytic disks with boundary in a torus [Gromov & Alexander]
Abstract: A famous theorem by M. Gromov asserts that for any Lagrangian torus one can find an anlaytic disk with boundary in the torus. This theorem is interesting both from the complex analytic point of view and for its consequences in symplectic geometry. I will describe Gromov's proof with some simplifications due to H. Alexander

Removable singularities for L^p solutions of tangential Cauchy-Riemann equations
Abstract: It is a classical subject to describe removable singularities for L^p solutions of homogeneous differential equations. Here the problem is considered for tangential Cauchy-Riemann operators on hypersurfaces in C^n. In this case, removable singularities may be radically more massive than predicted by the classical theory. The effect depends on properties of analytic continuation of the functions to open subsets on C^n. Problems arise to describe certain envelopes of holomorphy or to show their multisheetedness.

Reinhardt domains with noncompact automorphism groups [Fu-Isaev-Krantz]
Abstract: We give a complete classification of smoothly bounded Reinhardt domains in C^n with noncompact automorphism groups. We will also discuss the question whether Reinhardt domains always serve as standard models for domains with noncompact automorphism groups. From this point of view, there is a striking difference between the cases C^n with n>=3 and C^2. This is a joint work with S. Krantz and S. Fu.

Canonical homotopy operators for debar in strictly pseudoconvex domains [Andersson-Boo]
Abstract: We discuss a metric that is natural when studying the debar complex in strictly pseudoconvex domains. Well-known estimates for solutions of the debar equation are naturally formulated in this metric. Furthermore this metric has a crucial connection to the boundary metric on a domain in higher dimension.
Then we define homotopy operators for debar that are canonical with respect to this metric. Some basic facts are explored.
It turns out that well-known solution operators for debar are approximately the canonical ones, and this will probably be the subject of a forthcoming KASS seminar.
