Design and analysis of
clinical trials, 7,5 p (2014)

and Sebastian Jobjörnsson (labs).
Goal: After having completed this
course the student is supposed to be able to handle the design and the analysis
of the most common types of clinical trials including blinding, randomization
and sample size calculation. Moreover the student is supposed to master the
most usual statistical techniques for analyzing such trials.
Course material: The book “Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials: Concepts and
Methodologies, Wiley Series in Probability and Statistics by Shein-Chung Chow, Jen-Pei Liu” and the material handed out
at the lectures. The book can be bought at Cremona for 849 crowns.
Course
details: Chapters 1-12 in the book plus
the material in the handouts. Reading instructions (In addition to Stefan’s
reading instructions in the lecture notes) can be found here.
Examination: There will be a closed book
written exam around March 20, 2012 (to be confirmed). Notice that the lab work is compulsory. The
written exam will cover all the different parts of the course and will be worth
30 scores (pass (G) = 15 scores, excellent (VG) = 24 scores). This is a closed
book exam. No material is allowed other than a simple pocket calculator and
statistical tables are allowed. A sample exam can be found here. OBS! The written
examination will take place on the morning of March 29, 2014 in the V building
at Chalmers.
Computer projects: These will be between 08.00-11.45 on 29/1, 12/2 and
