Sofia Andersson, Stefan Franzén and Ziad Taib (lectures) and Carl-Fredrik Burman and Malin Östensson (labs).
The lectures take place at AstraZenecas in Mölndal while the labs take place lat the Mathematics Department at Chalmers.
After having completed this course the student is supposed to be able to handle the design and the analysis of the most common types of clinical trials including blinding, randomisation and sample size calculation. Moreover the student is supposed to master the most usual statistical techniques for analysing such trials.
The book used is “Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials: Concepts and Methodologies (Wiley Series in Probability and Statistics) (Hardcover) by Shein-Chung Chow, Jen-Pei Liu” and the material handed out at the lectures.
Chapters 1-12 in the book plus the material in the handouts.
There will be
a short written exam (2 hours) on the 11th of March
2008 and an oral exam on March 13th between 08.00-12.00. Notice that the lab
work is compulsory.
