The lectures
take place at AstraZenecas in Mölndal
while the labs take place lat the Mathematics
Department at Chalmers.
Goal:
After having
completed this course the student is supposed to be able to handle the design
and the analysis of the most common types of clinical trials including
blinding, randomisation and sample size calculation. Moreover the student is supposed to master the most usual
statistical techniques for analysing such trials.
The book used
is “Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials: Concepts and Methodologies (Wiley
Series in Probability and Statistics) (Hardcover) by Shein-Chung
Chow, Jen-Pei Liu” and the material handed out at the lectures.
Course
details:
Chapters 1-12
in the book plus the material in the handouts.
Examination:
There will be
a short written exam (2 hours) on the 11th of March
2008 and an oral exam on March 13th between 08.00-12.00. Notice that the lab
work is compulsory.
