New Challenges in Spatial and Spatio-Temporal modeling - Smögen Workshop, August 25-29, 2014.

This workshop was organized by the Stochastic Centre in Gothenburg and the organizing committee consisted of Magne Aldrin, Peter Guttorp and Aila Särkkä. The workshop was jointly funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg's Foundation through the project "Stochastics for big data and big systems - bridging local and global" and by the Oslo based center Statistics for Innovation. The focus was on spatial and spatio-temporal models, interaction models, random field inference, and analyzing large and complicated data structures. Application areas vary from infectious diseases, weather and climate, fish populations and forestry to waves, materials science and oil reservoirs.

The workshop took place in Smögen which is a small fishing-village in the archipelago on the Swedish west coast 150 km north of Gothenburg.
