John Dickson Carr was the master of the impossible crime in detective fiction; for his ingenuity in continuously devising new plots and solutions to the "locked-room murder" and combining detection with the supernatural and with historical fiction, his sense of adventure, atmosphere and narrative, and his fair play in revealing all the clues to the reader, he may very well be my favourite detective story writer. This page is an hom(e p)age to him, his books and his detectives Dr. Gideon Fell, Sir Henry Merrivale, Henry Bencolin and Colonel March.
This page is under construction, and
has been for quite some time. When finished, it will contain lists of
Carr's books (finished!), short stories and radio plays, introductions
to his detectives, a list of my favourite Carr stories, and much more.
I wish I had a picture or two of JDC to place on this site. If anyone who reads this happens to have one, I would appreciate recieving it. Thanks.
