The
demand from industry for highly trained technicians with a solid
background in mathematics and numerical analysis has increased
rapidly in recent years. Development and manufacturing of new
light composite materials in high-tech devices such as aircraft,
cars, sports equipment require advanced techniques from areas
such as fluid dynamics, nonlinear partial differential equations
and scientific computing. Advanced mathematical tools in modern
optimal design are used in order to meet needs like economy,
elegance and efficiency. In the
international Master's programme Engineering Mathematics you may design your own
specialization, like Differential Equations/Scientific Computing
,
Optimization/Algorithms, or others. The programme is intended for students with a background in mathematics and engineering subjects including statistics, numerical analysis and scientific computing. On the completion of the studies the candidate should be well prepared to start PhD studies in engineering mathematics or be a well trained engineering mathematician for the industry. The MSc programme includes three semesters of full time studies. This corresponds to 60 credit units (cu). 40 cu corresponds to courses (5 cu compulsory and 35 cu elective) and 20 cu corresponds to the Master's Thesis. Courses Minimum requirements for admission to the programme are earlier studies corresponding to three years of full time studies at a Swedish university (approximately a Bachelor's degree), in the above mentioned subjects with courses in mathematics including calculus in one and several variables, linear algebra and elementary differential equations.
