The computational modeling of complex fluids

Abstract

Viscoelastic liquid have been known to display striking differences to Newtonian fluids in a variety of flow situation. It is a challenge priblem to understand the microstructural features of the viscoelastic fluid and interactions with fluid flow. A new molecular model for liquid crystalline polymers (LCP) that includes distortional stress and mass diffusion is built by us, which is used to simulate the disclinations of LCP. A new model of non-Newtonian flow is also constructed by using the new kinetic theory.
