This workshop takes place at the Mathematics Centre, Chalmers, Göteborg. Talks will focus on probability theory, tree structures, and problems motivated by genetics. (Be aware, however, that this is a mathematics meeting, not a genetics meeting!) The main event is a four hour mini-course by Elchanan Mossel, and in addition there will be talks by five other researchers.
Organizer: Olle Häggström
The workshop schedule is as follows.
Thursday, May 22 | 11.00-11.45 | room MD6 | Simon Tavaré, University of Southern California | Computing probabilities on trees | 11.45-13.00 | lunch break | 13.00-13.45 | room MD6 | Elchanan Mossel, UC Berkeley | A crash course: reconstruction on trees | 14.00-14.45 | room MD6 | Elchanan Mossel, UC Berkeley | A crash course: reconstruction on trees (continued) | 15.15-16.00 | room MD6 | Tom Britton, Stockholm University | Phylogenetic inference: estimating evolutionary tree properties from DNA sequences | 16.15-17.00 | room MD6 | Johan Jonasson, Chalmers | Random colorings of trees | 18.30- | Conference dinner at Nära Hem Bar & Kök, Gibraltargatan 80 (just a couple of minutes' walk from the Mathematics Centre). |

No pre-registration is needed to take part in the workshop, but participants wishing to join the dinner on Thursday evening should contact the organizer (O.H.) as the number of seats is limited.
